Public Transportation Music is a concept album, dealing with ideas around public transit, car dominant society in America, and the social/emotional dynamics of resultant infrastructural violence. The work makes heavy use of both sampled soundscapes created from recordings of trains, as well as synthesized textures, with the intent of constructing and exploring the dynamics of urban mobility, climate change, and grappling with what exactly urban environments are built for.
The included sample is the 5th track, Collapse in Real Time. Written in 17EDO, the piece explores ideas around the climate crisis, and how it seems to move at a glacial and imperceptible pace until suddenly everything crashes in all at once.
