Temazcal is a performance that focuses on understanding, through the rhythmic sounds, how a certain space shared by different people is transformed over time into a storytelling, a shared history.
The understanding of the acoustic space has been investigated during decades by diverse fields of study and different cultures, nevertheless the form in which we perceived the space from the senses is still a mystery. Each person interprets and perceives it differently.
Temazcal seeks to recreate through sound the sensory experience lived in the steam baths used in traditional medicine and the daily life of the indigenous peoples of central Mexico. A place where the sense of hearing and touch completely changes our way of perceiving space.
