Born in Tokyo, Miharu Ogura started learning piano at the age of three, and composition at the age of seventeen.

One of the three finalists in the 13th Orléans International Piano Competition in 2018, she won several prizes including Composition Prize “André Chevillon - Yvonne Bonnard”. She also won the 2nd prize at the 12th Contemporary Music Performance Competition in 2016 organized by Japan Society for Contemporary Music. In 2019, she was selected a residence artist in the Fontevraud Abbaye.
 
As a pianist, she took part in several masterclass; Stockhausen Piano Academy in Munich in 2015 by Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich, Stockhausen Courses in Kürten in 2017, Darmstadt Summer Course in 2018, Lucerne Festival, Royaumont etc. She has participated in piano lessons by Weli Wiget, Benjamin Kobler, Ellen Corver, Tamara Stefanovich, Sébastien Vichard and Nicolas Hodges.
 
As a composer, her work "Kan" for three pianos was selected to the final at the 81st Japan Music Competition in 2019. Her work "Yuragi" for double string quartet was premiered at the 38th Composition Conference of Toho Gakuen in 2016, "Labyrinthe" for piano at the 40th in 2018, "Un autre chant pour alto et harpe" at the 41st in 2019 and “Credo for soprano and string quartet” at the 42nd in 2020.
 
After she graduated from Toho Gakuen College with honors, she is now a master student at Hochschule für Music und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt, studying with Florian Hoelscher, and also in a post graduate course in the Music Department in Toho Gakuen College, double majoring in piano performance with Yumiko Meguri and composition with Masahiro Ishijima.
