For the virtual voyage on the sea, I processed a Hungarian-Turkish folk song called ‘Szivárvány havasán’. In this melody, as Zoltán Kodály writes, “there is a general, supra-national, ancient recitative formula”, because the melody appears not only in Hungarian but in many Eastern folk music traditions, such as Turkish folklore, as well. In the first part of the composition, I narrate Sándor Petőfi’s ballad 'The Loving Sea' with my music, and then in the last part of the composition, I further explore the story and I show you (with the orchestra and with tape electronics) what happens at the bottom of the sea.
