Raptus for violin and orchestra

Winner of the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Grand Prix International 1997

The title Raptus refers to a state of transcendental rapture; the work was inspired by the almost necromantic capacity of the violin to evoke that state. The rhapsodic structure of the work represents a free adaptation of sonata-form.
