Sarabanda Attraverso il Tempo

The idea has came from Bach's Sarabande (1st cello suite). I kept the rhythm and shape of the spanish dance but I took some melodic fragments to elaborate, then I developed them rhythmically and melodically in a more modern harmonic context in order to re-contextualize the ancient dance in our present time. The piece has been commissioned by the contemporary festival "Aref in Musica" in Brescia, Italy.
