Driven by the awareness of the need to give contemporary vocal music a fresh impulse, as well as the desire to revive the rich repertoire of medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque music, dedicated singers under the direction of Cordula Bürgi founded the ensemble CANTANDO ADMONT. With enthusiasm and great commitment, the ensemble aims to bring the wealth of historical vocal heritage back to life in contemporary works.
We firmly believe that only through in-depth work with the repertoire of the past can contemporary music be revitalized and freed from the confines of specialization. This holds promise for a new beginning, especially today.
CANTANDO ADMONT has set itself the goal of establishing a new concert tradition in Graz and Vienna through its own concert series “concert talk”, “solo cantando”, and “Young Voices”.
CANTANDO ADMONT performs at renowned festivals and venues such as the Salzburg and Bayreuth Festivals, Acht Brücken Festival Cologne, Wien Modern, Steirischer Herbst, Münchener Biennale, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wiener Festwochen, Konzerthaus Vienna, Musikverein Vienna, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Onassis Center Athens. In 2025, CANTANDO ADMONT performed as part of the opera DAS GROSSE FEUER by Beat Furrer at the Zurich Opera House.
Regular collaboration with composers such as Beat Furrer, Youghi Pagh-Paan, Klaus Lang, Elisabeth Harnik, Peter Ablinger, Feliz Anne Reyes Macahis, Laure M.
