Seattle composer and percussionist Stephen Karukas has received commissions and awards from organizations including SCI/ASCAP, Indiana University, and the Percussive Arts Society.
In 2024, he released his first album entitled Crimée No. 7 as kmodp, his electronic music project that attempts to frame our technological moment by incorporating elements of techno, glitch, and ambient music into an experimental style that oscillates between past and future.
Karukas's collaborations have included a project with the Hutchens / Myers Duo creating new music for percussion and saxophone as well as multiple ongoing projects as kmodp.
Outside of music, he works as a software engineer at Google and is interested in machine learning for language and signal processing.
