Praised as “virtuosic” (Rutland Herald), violinist Jennifer Wei Gersten is pursuing a doctorate in performance at Stony Brook University as a student of Arnaud Sussmann and Jennifer Frautschi. In 2022, she performed the Britten Violin Concerto with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra as a concerto competition winner. She has appeared with Ensemble Temporum (NO), Craftsbury Chamber Players, and Boston Festival Orchestra. Jennifer has served as concertmaster of the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra and as a principal at the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra. Also a writer, she is the winner of the 2018 Rubin Institute Prize in Music Criticism; her work appears in The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, and PBS NewsHour. She is a 2022-23 Fulbright grantee to Oslo, Norway.
