Love Carbin is composer born 2002 in Umeå, Sweden. His music has been played in Sweden as well as internationally. He is currently pursuing composition studies in Gothenburg, Sweden.
His music approaches the extremes of silence and loudness, of density and sparsity. He takes inspiration from poetry, visual art, and film – arts which often leave traces woven in to his compositions. The music is volatile, shifting between fragile stillness and violent eruptions, which combine to create his poetic sound worlds.
Notable performances include Lys played by ensemble hand werk in Impuls 2023, il played by ensemble mosaik in Kalvfestivalen 2023, Älskling 2 played at Norrlandsoperan in Umeå and Lystra / Stilla played by Curious Chamber Players in Gothenburg.
He has participated in the Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Impuls festival as well as Kalvfestivalen and has taken lessons with Pierluigi Billone, Chaya Czernowin, Franck Bedrossian, among others. He is currently studying composition with Malin Bång and Esaias Järnegard at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg.
His music has been played by ensembles such as ensemble hand werk, ensemble mosaik, Curious Chamber Players, Dalasinfoniettan, Uppsala Kammarsolister and Umeå Musiksällskap.
He has been the recipient of multiple scholarships such as Anders Sandrews Stiftelse, and the junior Carin Malmlöf-Forsslings composition prize from The Royal Swedish Academy of Music. He was a special teacher during SPOR New Music School 2023.
