The Wizarding School for Composers is pleased to announce its partnership with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, conducted by Michelle Rakers, to record student compositions in its spring 2024 session, sponsored by Dorico.
Running February 27-July 19, the course is designed for concert and film composers who want to hone their artistic voice, improve their orchestral writing, and get more commissions and performances.
In addition to writing for 61-piece full orchestra, students will participate in group workshops, private lessons, career development sessions, and masterclasses with world-class artists, including headline guests who will give students feedback on their pieces:
- Your choice of Melinda Wagner (Pulitzer Prize winner and head of composition at Juilliard) OR Jongic Bontemps (composer, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts)
- Michelle Rakers (Emmy-winning conductor, former Assistant Director for “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra)
- David MacDonald (Scoring Notes podcast co-host and frequent panelist at international orchestral librarian conferences)
Participants also receive a free, 120-day trial of Steinberg's Dorico, along with a student discount if they wish to purchase the full version.
Early Enrollment Deadline: January 26, 2024
