Micro-workshop is NEKO3’s initiative aimed at young / young-at-heart -composers. The basic idea is to create a continuous exchange between the ensemble and the new generations of artists and creative minds of our time, and to find potential long-term collaborations. We offer the participating composers / creators a safe, artistically fertile space to test their ideas with musicians. Said ideas can be anything from embryos to more developed pieces - anything that benefits the composer at the present. Moreover, we prioritize interesting ideas and people over the artistic medium or media, and are open towards exploring any kinds of ways in which the participants want to express their art. Micro-workshop has two formats: the “on-tour” version wherein we travel to do workshops at festivals and universities; and this biennially produced Micro-workshop where we invite composers over to experience and enrichen our local scene in Copenhagen.
