UPDATE 30th May: By now, most of the places for composers have already been taken for the upcoming 14th international Ensemble and Composers Academy for Contemporary Music 2025, running from February 17th – 28th, 2025 in Graz, Austria (however, waiting lists will be maintained in any case until further notice).
The next impuls Academy will be running from February 17th – 28th, 2025 in Graz, Austria. Aside from composers, we will this time welcome string quartets and other young chamber music formations and ensembles and also offer coaching for electronic musicians and vocalists. For individual musicians, masterclasses for violin, viola, cello, double bass as well as saxophone, piano and percussion are provided.
On top of individual coaching, the Academy is once more holding lots of Special Programs such as Intermedia Collaboration, Team Composition, Digital Dialogues, Speculative Sound Synthesis – just to name a few – as well as varied calls for scores, reading sessions,…, and a multitude of discourse programs.
As in previous years, the Academy will be interwoven with the impuls Festival, offering a platform for presentation also for young artists on spot.
Registration has started, please book your place as soon as possible since they are filling up very fast!
Founded by Beat Furrer and Ernst Kovacic impuls, the International Ensemble and Composers Academy for Contemporary Music and Association for the Communication of Contemporary Music has developed into one of the internationally leading institutions in this field within shortly. Instrumental, vocal, chamber music and ensemble coaching, composition classes and various special programs, reading sessions amongst others with Klangforum Wien, various calls for scores, electronic workshops …: Every second year the impuls Academy offers young musicians and vocalists, composers as well as other artists – from Austria, but also from all over the world – an intense training and holistic approach to contemporary music, both in a theoretical and practical way. For 12 days impuls hereby builds an important platform for joint working, mutual learning and international exchange in Graz, Styria. An international team of renowned musicians and composers as coaches guarantees highest quality and builds the basis for excellently educated, highly motivated and internationally interlinked young artists as competent and authentic messengers of contemporary music.
