Any composer living or born in any of the countries touching the Mediterranean Sea
Within the framework of Agrigento, Italian Capital of Culture 2025, Klangforum Wien and the Fondazione Agrigento 2025 have initiated an open call for scores, inviting submissions that explore the connection between sound, architecture and identity of the Mediterranean. The deadline for submitting the scores is 24 January 2025.
New music means new horizons - beyond national identities, deeply rooted in different cultural environments and historical consciousness, and partly even unconsciousness. Klangforum Wien, one of the leading ensembles for new music, and the Fondazione Agrigento 2025 as planner of Agrigento, Italian Capital of Culture 2025, are calling for scores which give sound and architecture a new understanding of identity.
The open call addresses composers who were born or are currently living in a Mediterranean country, no matter for how long or of which nationality. Any composer living or born in any of the countries touching the Mediterranean Sea - regardless of nationality - is eligible to participate in this call.
