SESSION 2: Fellowship Festival
October 2–8, 2024; Sarasota, FL

SUMMARY:

Seeks emerging composers of any nationality above 18 years of age for a residency program in Sarasota, FL from October 2–8, 2024. Composers are mentored by Sean Friar and Marc Migó and offered repeat performances of completed works, a high quality recording of repeat performances, public speaking and lecture workshops, interview with Tyler Kline on Modern Notebook for radio broadcast, and community with fellow performers and composers. Fellows receive a private room with workspace in luxury apartments in downtown Sarasota. Fee of $30 for application and $1500 for tuition and housing. Accepted participants are responsible for travel to and from Sarasota as well as meals. Financial aid is available this year. Application fee waivers for those qualifying upon request by emailing info@soundboxventures.org.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Suncoast Composer Fellowship Program returns to Sarasota, Florida!
Session 2: The Fellowship Festival, runs from October 2-8, 2024.
The Suncoast Composer Fellowship Program empowers emerging composers by providing resources to further build their careers.

Six (6) composer fellows, selected through an application process, will be invited for a week-long residency program designed to further build their careers.

Fellows will be mentored by two composers in residence, Sean Friar and Marc Migó Cortes. The program gives composer fellows:

- Repeat performances of already completed works by world-class artists, including workshop and rehearsal opportunities

- Interviews with Tyler Kline for radio broadcast of Modern Notebook on WSMR, Sarasota’s Classical Music radio station

- Community and networking with composer and performer peers at the Sarasota Steinwachs Artist Residences

- Public speaking events to practice lecturing skills and self-advocacy, hosted at different venues around Sarasota

 - Residency space to work on current projects
- Discussions on wellness and career development

 - High-quality performance recordings for their portfolio, produced by ensembleNEWSRQ at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Sarasota

- Access to chamber music rehearsals and concert presented by performers in residence
Composer mentors in residence: Sean Friar and Marc Migó Cortes

The 12 performers in residence include soloists, artist presenters in North America and Europe, fellows of Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect, graduates from Juilliard, Curtis, and New England Conservatory, orchestral leaders from Staatskapelle Dresden, resident members of ensembleNEWSRQ in Sarasota.
