Tamara Kurkiewicz is a Polish percussionist and performer based in Stuttgart. As a musician dedicated to contemporary music, she highly values collaborating closely with composers and adding a personal flair to the pieces she engages with. In her projects and choice of repertoire the integration of performative elements and an extramusical context holds significant importance. As both an interpreter and a concert designer, she consistently explores artistic means of expression, actively engaging with feminist concerns and various societal issues.

Tamara has worked with numerous composers including Isabel Mundry, Robin Hoffmann, Agata Zubel, and Marcin Blazewicz, as well as ensembles such Chain Ensemble, shIft ensemble, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, and Ko-MAT ensemble. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed at, among others, the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music, Internationales Digitalkunst Festival in Stuttgart, Festival of Traditional and Avantgarde Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2018 she recieved a main prize at the 12th Polish Competition of Music of the 20th and 21st Century for Young Performers in Radziejowice. She is also a laureate of the 10th International Percussion Competition in Fermo, the 13th International Vibraphone Competition in Opole, and the 2nd Polish Percussion Competition in Poznan.

She has received coaching from musicians such as Håkon Stene, Christian Diensten, Rainer Römer, and Jennifer Torrence during the Internationale Klangspuren Schwaz Ensemble Modern Sommer Akademie, the Internationale Ensemble und Komponistenakademie für zeitgenössische Musik in Graz, as well as the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under the guidance of Miłosz Pękala and Henryk Mikolajczyk. In 2023, she completed her MA in Neue Musik postgraduate studies with distinction, mentored by Marta Klimasara and Klaus Dreher at HMDK Stuttgart, where she is currently pursuing her Konzertexamen degree.
