Sid Hille is a versatile composer, pianist and performer.

Hille was born in Germany in 1961. He studied piano, improvisation and music theory at the Utrecht School for the Arts in the Netherlands between 1987-1994.
He has since been living in Helsinki, working as a freelance composer and performer.

Hille has composed music for large orchestras, most recently the ‘Concerto for organ and wind orchestra’ (2018), and various concertos for sinfonietta-type orchestras.
He has won prizes and awards for his chamber music, most notably his string quartets, for his big band music and his film music.

Hille is an accomplished improviser, presently working internationally with his free-improvising avant-garde trio ‘F#’.
Hille has performed solo piano improvisations at Helsinki’s Temppeliaukio Church since 2001 on a weekly basis, in over 400 concerts.
