Bio

Carolina Cerezo Dávila (Málaga – Spain, September 1993). She completed studies of Music Theory (5 years) and Piano (10 years) in Málaga, Spain.
Then she got her Bachelor in Composition (2011-2015) at the Aragon Superior Conservatory of Music (CSMA) in Zaragoza, Spain, under the teaching of the composers José María Sánchez-Verdú, Juan José Eslava, Agustí Charles Soler and José Manuel López López; and also her Conducting Bachelor (2012-2016) in the same conservatory (CSMA), with professor Juan José Olives.

Currently she is part of the Theory Department at CSMA, teaching Music Analysis from XIXc. to New Music to Bachelor Students. She did a Master in Researching for the Arts in Catalonian Open University (UOC) and currently she is starting a PhD in Barcelona University (UB), as part of the researching group GliCiArt, comparing Cinema with other Artistic disciplines.

She is part of E7.2 collective, who organises After Cage Festival in Pamplona (Spain), a new musics festival that searchs only for non-traditional concert situations. During las festival she premiered her first theater piece, ‘Una concavidad de silencio’.
During 2019 she will be composer in residence in EPOS Lab, a researching space where poet and composer create a stage work, in this case for actor, mezzosoprano and duo (sax, percussion). Another main project fot this year is a piece for percussion duo commisioned by Neopercusión.

She has has assisted to seminars with Salvatore Sciarrino, Fabián Panisello, Polo Vallejo, Philippe Hurel, Alberto Posadas, Sofia Gubaidulina, Luis de Pablo, Mauricio Sotelo, Beat Furrer, Stefano Gervasoni and she received lessons from Brian Ferneyhough, Fabien Lévy, Oscar Biachi, Franck Bedrossian, Nicolas Tzortzis, Jöel Bons, Chaya Czernowin, Oliver Schneller, Martjin Padding, Simon Steen-Andersen, Philippe Manoury, Zygmunt Krauze or Yuval Shaked.

In 2013 she was awarded with a full scholarship for taking part in the Composition session ‘Voix Nouvelles’ in Royaumont Foundation, France, with Bryan Ferneyhoug, Fabién Levy and Oscar Bianchi. She has worked with Orchestre Symphonic Ose! in Geneva’s Archipel Festival as part of Archipel Academy for young composers; with Lucilin Ensemble and composers Isabel Mundry and Marcel Reuter in Luxembourg Composition Academy; with Atlas Ensemble (2012, 2014) that commisioned her a piece in 2013; with Vertixe Sonora Ensemble; Pilar Fontalba, Duo Sincronía; OCAZ Enigma; Plural Ensemble, etc.
Last summer she took part in two important workshops: Ticino Musica with Neue Vocalsolisten (Lugano) and Il Suono Academy with Ensemble Il Suono Giallo (Città di Castello).
