Josephine Stephenson (b. 1990) is a Franco-British composer and performer based in London. Her music has been commissioned by the BBC and Radio France and performed both sides of the Channel by artists and groups such as stargaze, Liam Byrne, Stephen Upshaw, explorensemble, the Van Kuijk Quartet, the Hermes Experiment and the Maîtrise de Radio France, in places such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Auditorium the Radio France, the Britten Studio at Snape Maltings, LSO St Luke’s and the Festival Lyrique d’Aix en Provence. She is one of the three Artistic Director of the London-based concert series and record label Listenpony, which puts on events mixing new classical music with older classical music and popular genres. Josephine read music as an undergraduate at Clare College, Cambridge, where she was a choral scholar, before completing a Masters in Composition at the Royal College of Music. She also works as a soprano with a special interest in contemporary and early music, singing with ensembles like Exaudi, Tenebrae or the Tallis Scholars.
