Marco Benetti was born in 1989 in Busto Arsizio, a town near Milan, Italy. After graduation, he studied musicology at the University of Pavia - Cremona, a city where he started also to study composition privately with M° Gabrio Taglietti. Then he continued his composition studies at Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano "C. Abbado" with M° Giovanni Verrando. He finished his Master in Composition at the Conservatory "G. Verdi" in Como, in the class of M° Vittorio Zago. Between 2017 and 2019 he attended, as an actual student, the Advanced Course in Composition at the Chigiana Musical Academy in Siena held by M° Salvatore Sciarrino. So he could collaborate with Quartetto Prometeo, Matteo Cesari and Paolo Ravaglia and received the Diploma of Merit.
In parallel with composition studies, he started conducting studies with M° Yoichi Sugiyama.
He attended masterclasses with Mario Bertoncini (Cremona 2014), Ondřej Adámek (Milan, 2016), Andrea Agostini and Daniele Ghisi (Milan, 2017), Francesco Filidei, (Pontedera, 2017; Milan, 2018), Ivan Fedele (Como, 2018), Mauro Lanza (Milan, 2018), Marco Stroppa (Milan, 2018) Alberto Posadas (Graz, 2019), Clara Iannotta (Graz, 2019) and Isabel Mundry (Graz, 2019).
His first chamber opera La traviata norma (2018) was produced by Teatro Elfo-Puccini in Milan while the second one, Tredici secondi (2019), was produced by Biennale Musica 2019 in Venice.
He collaborates with the Symphonic Orchestra and Choir of Milan "G. Verdi" writing program notes and making conferences for concerts presentations.
