The competition is dedicated to works for solo instrument and/or solo instrument with pre - recorded media.
The competition is open to performers from all countries born after January 1, 1980. Winners of the first Prize in previous editions of the Valentino Bucchi Prize may not enter the competition.
The competition is for performers on the following instruments: Flute (also Piccolo, Alto Flute and Bass Flute), Oboe (also Oboe d’amore and English Horn), Clarinet (also Eb Clarinet and Bass Clarinet), Bassoon, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone (Soprano Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax and Baritone Sax), Piano, Accordion/Bayan, Harp, Guitar, Violin, Viola (also Viola d’amore), Cello, Double Bass.
In the first phase the contestant must provide a single work or two short works, from the solo repertoire with or without pre - recor ded media, published in the period between January 1, 1900 and December 31, 2000. In the second phase the contestant must provide a single work or two short works, from his solo repertoire with or without pre - recorded media, published in the period between January 1, 1960 and December 31, 2018.
The winner of the Valentino Bucchi Prize will receive a monetary prize of Euro 4,000 and an invitation to perform in a future concert as part of the artistic activities of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana.
