Composers born on or after January 1st, 1985
The Banatul Philharmonic of Timișoara, Romania is launching an international call to young composers to participate at the first edition of the Composition Competition (starting in May 2022) and Workshop, which will take place between the 19th and 23rd of October 2022.

The event will be part of the Remus Georgescu International Music Festival | Intrada – 9th edition. After the selection which will take place in June 2022, the Festival will invite the six winners to write a new composition by September 2022, that will be performed in premiere during this year’s Festival edition. In October 2022, the six composers will participate in the workshop led by Francesco Filidei (Composer in Residence).

May 24th –June 25th: Submissions for the competition
July 1st: Announcing the six winners for the creative commission and workshop
July 1st – September 15th: Submissions for the creative commission
October 19th – October 23rd: Composition workshop

The competition is open to composers of all nationalities born on or after January 1st, 1985.

Application procedure
Only one application per composer is accepted.
• Anonymous submission is not necessary.
• Only one PDF score is allowed:
o the work must be no more than 5 years old.
o length of composition: 5–15 minutes.
• Recording of the score should be uploaded only as MP3, M4A or AAC formats as part of the application form. Live recordings are encouraged. MIDI formats are discouraged but acceptable.
• Prepare all materials before starting the application.

The materials must be submitted electronically before midnight (MDT) on June 25th 2022. The Festival does not make exceptions for delayed submissions.

The participation is free of charge.

Winners will be announced on July 1st 2022. The six selected participants will have their work (composed during the creative commission period) performed in premiere during this year’s Festival edition. Also, they will win their spot at the Workshop coordinated by Francesco Filidei. Accommodation for the six participants will be provided by the Festival.
