Poptart Punk Opera

Poptart Punk Opera seeks to produce an outdoor, COVID-compliant opera or vocal/instrumental work in May or June 2021. We are seeking scores in English, 30-90 minutes in length, accessible to diverse general audiences. We are female- and queer-led and seeking to showcase the talents of young up-and-coming singers in the Philadelphia area. Submissions dealing with the subjects of race, gender, sex, and sexuality are ideal. Non-traditional “opera” sounds such as electronics and non-traditional instrumentation and vocal techniques are encouraged. Instrumental ensemble should be small (less than 15 musicians). Works featuring multiple treble voices (soprano and mezzo soprano) ideal. Due to COVID restrictions, small casts are encouraged.

Compensation will be $100 for the score selected.
