The 6th International Composition Competition GMCL / Jorge Peixinho is organized by the Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa (Contemporary Music Group of Lisbon) and its main purposes are the encouragement ofmusical creation and his divulgation, thus contributing to the increase of the repertoire of chamber music. Has a biennial periodicity.
Composition of the jury: Ivan Fedele (President), Gerhard Stabler, João Madureira, Isabel Soveral, Carlos Caires, Jaime Reis, Jorge Sá Machado and Kunsu Shim (special guest).
The artwork and application form must be sent by e-mail (pdf), until the 28th July 2023, to the following: gmclconcursocomposicao@gmail.com
There will be two categories within the formation of GMCL: Mezzo-soprano, Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, Cello, Harp,Percussion and Piano:
Category A – ENSEMBLE – GMCL Award / City of Lisbon; complete formation.
Category B – CHAMBER MUSIC – Jorge Peixinho Award / Montijo Municipality; at least four elements.
NOTE: In both categories electronics may be included.
There is no limit for age or number of works for competitors.
Two prizes will be awarded in each category, 1st and 2nd prizes.
The winning works will have the edition of the score and parts for AVA publisher and its presentation in concert with broadcast on national radio, Antena 2.
The monetary value of the 1st Prizes of category A is €4,000.00 and B is €3,000.00; and the 2nd Prizes in category A is 400,00€ and B is 300,00€.
