IRCAM maintains a limited open call artistic research residency program that offers artists of all disciplines the opportunity to collaborate with one or more IRCAM research teams. As a result of the density of our program and our focus on specific calls, we accept very few proposals through our general open call.
A panel of experts will select artists based on the originality and professional excellence of the applicant’s work. If a project is accepted, artists benefit from access to state-of-the-art technological infrastructure and support from IRCAM's research groups and expert teams.
The structure and length is tailored to each individual artist and project. Duration of residencies can range from two weeks to six months and residencies should take place in between November 2020 and December 2021.
Residents receive 1.800 euros per month. Applicants must secure funding for travel, lodging, and fees associated with their project.
The next specific call will be launched this autumn and will partner with the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer, the School of Music at Georgia Tech, and the Taiwan Sound Lab.
The deadline for applications is August 15th, 2020 (midnight Paris time).
Successfull applications will be announced on October 1st, 2020.
Some referees have experienced various types of disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, as a consequence some peer-review tasks require more time to complete than usual. As a consequence we do not expect the final results to be announced before mid November 2020.
We highly encourage applicants to contact IRCAM's research teams prior to submission in order to elaborate their proposals.
