Luís Neto da Costa was born in 1993 near Porto, Portugal.

He studied Composition at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (ESMAE) in Porto. He composes frequently with computer-aided software that help him broad his musical resources. Neto da Costa has also been dedicated to conducting and musical analysis.

Besides giving his own touch, some of his pieces have stylistic differences which reflect the individual search that he seeks for each of them. His later interests are curves, microtonal harmonic fields, L-system scales and construction of new rhythmic systems.

In 2017, he was the Young Composer in Residence at Casa da Música. As a commission for the Prémio Jovens Músicos (Antena 2 / RTP), he wrote the compulsory piece for oboe category (mid-level). In September 2015, he won the Honorable Mention of the Prize of Composition SPA / Antena 2 – 4th Edition. In October 2015, he won the Honorable Mention of the Prize of Composition Casa da Música / ESMAE on World Music Day 2015.
